Description: The video is a presentation on the life and career of the botanist, biologist, physicist Jagdish Chandra Bose. He was born in Mymensingh in undivided Bengal in 1858. His career can be divided into three distinct scientific periods: 1894-1899, the study of electromagnetic waves; 1899-1902, the shift from the physical to the bio-physical field; 1902, study of plant responses to physical stimuli. He is credited with the invention of the microwave in 1894-95 and is known as the Father of Microwave. He gave the world its first semiconductor device and analogue optics. In 1899 he presented a paper at the Royal Society of London where he explained the development of iron and mercury coherer which could detect radio waves. He also became the first scientist to use a semiconductor junction to receive radio waves. He invented more than 100 instruments like the compound lever cresograph and the oscillating plant phytograph.
