Description: In the present paper discussed about the musical aspect of Kutiyattam, which is the staging of Sanskrit drama in Kerala, in a peculiar, unique and very ancient and traditional way. Though it is a neglected art, it has not died out entirely. Three or four Chakyar families have kept it alive and portions of dramas are staged even to this day with little change from the method of presentation from the times of King Kulasekhara Varma.
