Talking to people who came every year, gathered that the standards of singing and dancing had declined due to changing social circumstances, for many actors were employed outside. Mr. V.D. Swami, a native of Melattur who had been associated with Bhagavata Mela performances in his youth, was interested in promoting the dance drama outside the village.
