Introduction

North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) is one of the seven zonal cultural centre establishments in the country. It was built on the initiative of the then Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India when it first announced in 1985 to set up a ZCC for the northern zone at Patiala (Punjab) and, thereafter another ZCC for the eastern region at Shantiniketan (West Bengal). In the same sequence, NCZCC was established as a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 on 11.3.1986 with its registered office at Prayagraj. The objective of setting up of ZCCs was to cut across territorial boundaries and to reach the larger identity of cultural relationship and commonality and to provide facilities for the creative development of arts and literature with special emphasis on folk and tribal arts. NCZCC covers seven states viz., U.P., Bihar, M.P., Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Delhi. His Excellency, the Governor of U.P. is the Chairman of the centre.
